The Sessions

Sound Sessions

An invitation to pause, lie down and simply receive. Discover what happens during a Sound Bath and what you can expect from your time in the space.

Your Marylees Sound Journey

Tap each step to open it and find out more.

  1. 01Choose your space+

Choose the space that feels right for you. Waiting on your mat will be an affirmation card, thoughtfully chosen with the group, the intention for the evening and those attending in mind. You'll also find a crystal or stone, selected to complement the month and yours to keep — you may feel drawn to hold it, set an intention with it, place it under your pillow, or simply take it home with you, whatever feels natural to you. An eye mask will be available should you wish to use it.

  2. 02Settle in+

Once everyone is comfortable, I'll gently talk you through how the session will unfold, so you know exactly what to expect. Then there's nothing more for you to do — simply settle into your space and allow yourself to receive.

  3. 03A short meditation+

We begin with a gentle guided meditation to help you settle into stillness. Each meditation is inspired by the phase of the Moon and the zodiac sign that she is in.

  4. 04The Sound Journey+

From here, Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls take centre stage. I play intuitively rather than following a fixed sequence, allowing each Sound Journey to unfold naturally in response to the space and the people within it.

  5. 05A Gentle Return+

As the Sound Journey draws to a close, gentle percussion and softer sounds gradually invite your awareness back into the room, giving you time to return at your own pace.

  6. 06Time to integrate+

When the final sounds fade, we move into a period of complete quiet. This stillness is an important part of the experience, allowing time for the Sound Journey to settle and land before we begin to move back into the outside world. You may simply rest in silence, reflect, or journal if you feel drawn to — there is nothing to do and nowhere to rush to, this time is yours.

  7. 07Tea & Chocolate+

When you feel ready, we come back together over herbal tea and dark chocolate — time to ground, connect and gently transition back into the remainder of your day or evening.

The Marylees approach

No two Marylees Sound Journeys are ever quite the same. I play intuitively, giving each part of the experience the time it needs — allowing space for the room to settle, and for you to become comfortable and safe, before moving on. There is no rush, and no expectation of where the experience should take you.

My role is simply to create and hold the space. What happens within it is entirely individual — you may experience deep rest, reflection, emotion or clarity, or you may simply enjoy the sounds and vibration of the bowls.

I don't consider myself a healer, and I don't believe that I can heal you. For me, any healing or inner work belongs entirely to you. My role is to create and hold a space in which you feel safe enough to rest, soften, reflect and, if it feels right for you, explore whatever may arise within.

The instruments

The Sound of Marylees

At the heart of every Marylees Sound Journey is my complete 4th octave set of Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, with an additional A bowl in the 3rd octave.

The lower tone of the 3rd octave bowl brings a beautiful depth and grounding quality to the sound, while the complete octave allows me to create different combinations of chords, notes and layers throughout the journey.

My bowls are made from 99.99% pure quartz crystal, and have been carefully chosen over time to create the collection I now work with.

Alongside the bowls, I weave in Koshi Chimes, a rain stick and an Ocean Drum — each bringing a different texture and quality to the experience.

Sometimes sound is deep and resonant, sometimes delicate and almost barely there. And sometimes, the most important part is the silence that follows.

Together, these sounds create the unique landscape of each Marylees Sound Journey.

Why it works

Sound has been used in all sorts of traditional and medical practices. I keep my own explanation simple: our bodies respond to the frequency of the bowls, and the brain reads that as a signal that it's safe to soften and relax.

A violin plays different notes, and sand on a tray shifts into a different pattern for each one — same principle. Sound isn't just heard, it's felt. There's a short video below showing it in action.

Common feedback

Everyone experiences Sound differently, and there is no right or expected response. Some people describe feeling deeply relaxed, others a sense of calm or clarity, and one of the things I hear most is how well they sleep afterwards.

Moon Cycles

Sound in Rhythm with the Moon

My connection with the Moon has been part of my life for many years and is naturally woven into Marylees.

Where possible, I love to gather around the New and Full Moon – beautiful points within the lunar cycle for reflection, intention and release.

The structure of a Marylees Sound Journey remains familiar, but the meditation and intention for each gathering are inspired by the phase of the Moon and the zodiac sign she is moving through.

New Moon

A time to turn inward, set intentions and gently consider what you would like to welcome or begin as a new lunar cycle unfolds.

Full Moon

A time for illumination and reflection – acknowledging what has come to fruition and considering what you may be ready to release.

Zodiac Influence

The zodiac sign the Moon is travelling through brings another layer of inspiration to the evening's meditation, intention and reflection.

Moon Names

The names we give the Full Moon

Across cultures and traditions, Full Moons have been given names inspired by the natural world, the seasons and the rhythms of life. Names such as the Wolf Moon, Flower Moon and Strawberry Moon offer a beautiful way to connect with the changing seasons throughout the year. Where it feels relevant, I weave the story and symbolism associated with that month's Full Moon gently into the opening meditation — not as something you have to believe in or follow, but simply as another invitation for reflection.

Private Sound Experiences

Let Marylees come to you

Marylees Sound Sanctuary isn't defined by one place. I can bring the experience to you, creating a private Sound Journey in your home, workplace or chosen space.

Whether you're gathering a group of friends, creating something special for a celebration, or looking to offer your team time to step away from the demands of the working day, each private experience can be thoughtfully shaped around your group.

I bring the Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls and everything needed to create the Sound Journey. We can discuss your space, group size and what you would like from the experience beforehand, allowing me to create something that feels considered and personal to you.
